Tribute to Janet Echelman
Print Design · Packaging · Illustration · Linoleum Print

Janet Echelman's journey is one of perseverance and creative innovation. After being denied from multiple art schools, she carved her own path and became internationally known for her large-scale fiber installations that span buildings and cityscapes. Her work is both visually dynamic and structurally resilient, made with a fiber fifteen times stronger than steel—yet flexible enough to respond to the movement of wind and nature.

Inspired by her story and artistic process, I studied her TED Talk and website in depth, aiming to create a piece that honors her spirit and showcases the scale and strength of her work.

This project includes:

  • A custom linoleum stamp design, hand-carved and featured on both a zip-up bag and t-shirt, symbolizing the organic flow and structure of Echelman’s installations

  • A folding poster that visually walks the viewer through her TED Talk, paired with curated images of her most impactful pieces

  • All elements are packaged within a custom-designed folder, creating a cohesive experience that reflects Echelman’s commitment to both concept and craft

This tribute is a celebration of bold creativity, material exploration, and the power of persistence in the face of rejection.
